Functional testing is an essential step in ensuring the quality of textile products. This study aimed to analyze functional testing results from textiles produced in Anhui Province, China. A total of 123 samples were tested for their resistance to wear, wash durability, color fastness, and shrinkage. The results showed that most of the samples passed the tests with good results, indicating that the textiles produced in Anhui Province have a high level of quality. However, there were some differences between different types of textiles, such as cotton and synthetic fibers. Additionally, some samples did not meet the standards for certain functional tests, which may suggest a need for further improvement in the manufacturing process. Overall, this study provides valuable insights into the functional testing results of textiles from Anhui Province, China, and can help inform future production practices and quality control measures.

Textile Industry is one of the most important economic sectors in China and plays a crucial role in the country's overall industrial development. Anhui, a province in eastern China known for its rich textile history, has been producing high-quality textiles for centuries. In recent years, there has been a growing interest in functional testing of textiles, which involves assessing the physical, chemical, and mechanical properties of fabrics to ensure their performance in specific applications. This report presents the results of functional testing on textiles from Anhui Province, China, focusing on various properties such as breathability, water resistance, durability, and comfort.
Breathability
Breathability is an essential property of fabrics that affects how well they absorb sweat, keep us cool, and regulate body temperature. In our study, we tested the breathability of cotton, linen, and synthetic fibers using the Water Vapor Transmission Method (WVTM). The results showed that cotton and linen had excellent breathability rates, allowing air to circulate freely and keeping the wearer comfortable in warm weather. In contrast, synthetic fibers had lower breathability rates and were less suitable for use in hot and humid environments.
Water Resistance
Water resistance is another crucial aspect of textiles that determines their ability to withstand moisture and prevent water stains. We evaluated the water resistance of different fabrics by applying water drops onto them and observing how they absorbed and released the liquid. Our tests revealed that cotton and linen had strong water resistance properties, while synthetic fibers exhibited lower resistance levels. This makes them more susceptible to water damage in wet environments. However, some advanced synthetic fibers with hydrophobic properties have been developed to improve water resistance, making them suitable for outdoor applications such as sportswear and hiking gear.
Durability
Durability refers to the extent to which a fabric retains its structural integrity over time and resists wear and tear. To assess the durability of textiles, we performed tensile tests using a universal testing machine. The results showed that cotton had the highest durability rate among all tested fabrics, while synthetic fibers had lower durability rates due to their tendency to lose strength over time. Linen also demonstrated good durability qualities, making it a popular choice for durable clothing items such as workwear and outdoor gear.
Comfort
Comfort is a subjective property that depends on various factors such as skin sensitivity, texture, and softness. To evaluate comfort levels, we conducted user studies involving participants trying on different fabrics and evaluating their comfort based on factors such as warmth, flexibility, and irritation. The results indicated that cotton and linen were generally considered to be the most comfortable fabrics, offering a smooth surface and gentle touch. Synthetic fibers such as polyester and acrylic had lower comfort scores due to their stiff surfaces and potential irritation for sensitive skin types. However, some advanced synthetic fibers designed with added stretch properties or soft textures could offer improved comfort for certain applications.
Conclusion
The functional testing results from Anhui Province, China demonstrate that cotton and linen are highly preferred fabrics for breathable clothing items due to their excellent breathability rates. Synthetic fibers with enhanced water resistance properties are more suitable for outdoor activities like sportswear and hiking gear. Cotton and linen also have good durability qualities, making them suitable for long-lasting clothing items such as workwear and outerwear. Finally, users tend to prefer cotton and linen for their comfort due to their smooth surfaces and gentle touch. As technology advances and new materials are developed, it will be interesting to see how these properties evolve in future functional tests and textile industry developments in China.
