2、Production and Employment
The majority of the mills (60%) produce cotton-based textiles, followed by wool (20%) and silk (10%). The remaining 10% produce a combination of these materials or use other fiber sources. In terms of employment, the industry has a relatively high female participation rate of 45%, indicating that textile mills are a significant employer of women in the region.
3、Challenges and Opportunities
The most significant challenge facing the industry is the high cost of raw materials, which account for 60% of total production costs. This is primarily due to the limited availability of high-quality raw materials in the region and the high transportation costs associated with importing them. However, the survey also identified several opportunities for growth, including the potential to expand into new markets (50%), adopt new technologies (40%), and increase product diversification (30%).

The findings of this survey highlight the need for improvements in the Xinjiang textile industry.
